Thanks to everyone who came out Saturday night for the Third Annual Bird Beak show.
From all I saw and heard it was a great success all around. In case you missed it, here are some photos of the event and my work.
Look out soon for some better scans of these paintings on my site.
Anyone know a place in NYC to get high quality oversize scans done?
Until next time…

(Oh and the tattoo is one of my design for my buddy Mike. Seen here freshly un-bandaged from the parlor!)

Bird Beak Recap
June 10, 2009Happy Spring NY!
April 17, 2009
Here is a quick sketch I made today in Central Park. Its a small justification for taking the afternoon off, but it was too beautiful to be stuck inside. The only drawback was the herd of children I attracted, chorusing, “Is it done now? How about now? Can I have your painting?”
I think I got it covered for next time though… Perhaps this will make mom and dad take more interest in doing some real parenting. Anyway, I hope everyone has a lovely weekend out in the sun. And keep your children on their leashes!
The Woods in the UK
February 9, 2009
Later this week I will be traveling to London with “Jessie Murphy in the Woods,” the band my girlfriend has been playing with for the past 8 months. I designed their logo, above, and the artwork for their forthcoming album “Eight Belles.” Stay tuned for sketches from my trip and keep an eye on The Woods‘ site for their album drop.
Cheerio!
Minor Rant
December 28, 2006Greetings all from the vacuum of time and constructive intention that exists between Christmas and New Years (at least for me…). My phone has been silent, my mailbox is empty (not that I’m checking either of them), and my sketchbook has lain forgotten over the past week. However today while reading a few blogs in a tentative first step towards reordering my life, I came upon something upsetting, and decided to take the time to comment on artistic responsiblity. Wonkette has posted a “super-secret advance copy” of a graphic novel produced by the NRA promoting paranoid, intolerant, and violent politics. Certainly everyone is entitled to their opinion, but this is something I concider to be a destructive and regressive message. Here’s the kicker: this seems to be a beautifully executed set of artwork. As a young artist, developing technical profficiency/excellence, and a distictive style are paramount… however another consideration which must be undertaken is the responsiblity of the artist. As strange as it may sound, I hope this artist truly believes in his/her message. It would be far worse, in my opinion for this artist to simply lend his/her skill towards creating a piece of artwork with a negative message for monetary gain or otherwise. Art is power, especially in an accessable and widely distributable format (e.g. graphic novels, printed illustration), so indifferance can be just as dangerous as malicious intent. This is certainly something I will be mediating on in the New Year, as I cannot claim well considered positive intent behind my every drawing, and I hope you give it thought as well.
So please check out the Wonkette, please support responsible artwork, and please use your voice in a positive, rational, and thoughtful way.
Best of luck in the New Year!
My new Blog!
August 28, 2006
Welcome!
I’ve decided that it is time to join the masses and get a blog… a venue of respite from the limiting formality of my professional website. Here I can display some experimental artwork, sketches, observational drawings, not to mention lurid photographs of a disturblingly naked yours truly… or perhaps i’ll just leave that for the imagination (as i’m sure it now and will forever occupy…hehe).
Also it will be a place for obstinate, and uneducated opinions on art, current events, geopolitical/economic crisis…etc.
Furthermore… I find my greatest motivational tool is to blab to everyone I meet about whatever it is I am currently working on, and thus face widespread humiliation should I fail to accomplish the subject of aforementioned boasting and gabbing…
So expect some art, photos, general nonsense, news and absurdly impractical goals and ambitions… if I actually update it.
